Eighth Viking Charge [Video]

[Astrid is in Ecruteak, and she looks...puzzled. She's frowning at her gear absently as she starts to talk.]

Okay. So, I've learned to deal with a lot here, really. Riding on the back of a giant bird, eggs that hatch into dogs, animals that get 'knocked out' instead of killed.

Ghost masks that make you think you're other people and no I am never going to talk about that.

Ghosts in general. I caught a ghost! He looks like a furry floating dark thing that grins. Which is weird. It's all weird.

But I think...this sort of wins.

[She turns the camera away now, to where her Wailmer is sitting on the ground looking gigantic and very happy. He sort of wiggles at the camera in what might be an attempt at a tail wag.]

He hatched from an egg that I could hold in my hands. Egg to that. He's HUGE. [And back to Astrid.] The 'Ball Whale Pokemon.' Seriously? And the strangest thing? Someone mailed me the egg. Anonymously. Someone looked at this and thought 'I'm going to give this whale thing to the viking girl.'

[She just shakes her head.]

I think I'm gonna name him 'Ball.'

Er... About that...

[And the scene on his side shifts to Helga the Miltank, practicing a little of her one-two punch against the air, and the creatures overseeing her training. One is Hookfang, looking bored, but the other is being oddly attentive. It is, in fact, a sheep, and similarly pink.]

I haven't had any trouble fighting with livestock, here. Helga already seems pretty strong, and Zippleback can do some damage when she wants to.

[He won't mention that she's not exactly a pokemon to come to mind when he thinks of battling. The Flaaffy was more suited for being a pillow, as long as you didn't mind your hair sticking up from the static.]

Plus, they manage to serve a practical purpose, just like back home! [He shakes his head in mock disappointment.] Whales...generally don't serve a practical purpose.

*Because your names are boring and should be more fun.*

Nice to meet you! I'm Imogen!

Soooooo... a viking? Is it all plundering and horned hats at home? Are they cute hats? *She does not seem to realize how inappropriate her questions are.*
strawberryredgrave: (What'd ya say?)

Yeah; a flying whale would be damn crazy. At least it'll already be big enough to take people by surprise.
gochuugoku: (You'd better stop talking)

Yes, it's strange is it not? Those were some of the things I could never get used to here, aru. [Gigantic Pokemon hatching out of eggs, he means.]

I'm still not entirely sure how all Pokemon can only lay eggs, but... I think that is one of the things we are not meant to know. [And thinking about it more, he believes he may not want to know anyway.]
newberktown: (not impressed)

[If Astrid was his girlfriend like everyone insisted, she would be being a bad one.]

Does that really surprise you by this point?

Yeah, but it's a way to expurress yourself! And it's kind of silly and fun.

Well, I imagine Pokemon would like their privacy too. They can seem so human-like sometimes, can't they? Especially the psychic-types.

Yes, they can. One of my friends had a psychic Pokemon called Alakazam and it could speak using telepathy. It even spoke to me once.

Telepathy is, to put it bluntly, the ability to speak with your mind, a psychic ability. ESP.

Back where I come from, there are people who claim to have such an ability, but we're still not sure if telepathy is truly possible or not, aru.

Weird, my history books had a lot about vikings plundering and pillaging.

But then again it didn't mention dragons.

They're probably wrong, I mean who do I trust a stupid book or a real viking.

But which is more fun, vikings that burn down other people's villages after taking a bunch of loot.

Or Dragons?

You got a point there. Fish turn into sea serpents and foxes make illusions and annoy the hell out of you. There's something to say about a place when the only thing that makes sense is a whale not able to fly.
