[Astrid is in Ecruteak, and she looks...puzzled. She's frowning at her gear absently as she starts to talk.]

Okay. So, I've learned to deal with a lot here, really. Riding on the back of a giant bird, eggs that hatch into dogs, animals that get 'knocked out' instead of killed.

Ghost masks that make you think you're other people and no I am never going to talk about that.

Ghosts in general. I caught a ghost! He looks like a furry floating dark thing that grins. Which is weird. It's all weird.

But I think...this sort of wins.

[She turns the camera away now, to where her Wailmer is sitting on the ground looking gigantic and very happy. He sort of wiggles at the camera in what might be an attempt at a tail wag.]

He hatched from an egg that I could hold in my hands. Egg to that. He's HUGE. [And back to Astrid.] The 'Ball Whale Pokemon.' Seriously? And the strangest thing? Someone mailed me the egg. Anonymously. Someone looked at this and thought 'I'm going to give this whale thing to the viking girl.'

[She just shakes her head.]

I think I'm gonna name him 'Ball.'

I bet Helga's not seeming so silly anymore, is she?

[His 'Milk Cow Pokemon' was so much better than your 'Ball Whale Pokemon', Astrid.]

[She gives him an joking glare.]

A whale is still better than a cow, Hiccup. You're basically fighting with livestock. You might as well try and use a sheep.

[And the scene on his side shifts to Helga the Miltank, practicing a little of her one-two punch against the air, and the creatures overseeing her training. One is Hookfang, looking bored, but the other is being oddly attentive. It is, in fact, a sheep, and similarly pink.]

I haven't had any trouble fighting with livestock, here. Helga already seems pretty strong, and Zippleback can do some damage when she wants to.

[He won't mention that she's not exactly a pokemon to come to mind when he thinks of battling. The Flaaffy was more suited for being a pillow, as long as you didn't mind your hair sticking up from the static.]

Plus, they manage to serve a practical purpose, just like back home! [He shakes his head in mock disappointment.] Whales...generally don't serve a practical purpose.

[Know what Astrid is going to take away from all of that, Hiccup?]

You have a fighting sheep.

[Yes, here, have an actual facepalm.]

[If Astrid was his girlfriend like everyone insisted, she would be being a bad one.]

Does that really surprise you by this point?

[The both knew going into this not!relationship that it was going to be made of mostly of awkward mistakes.]

...No, I guess not. Not if I have a Ball Whale. [She actually laughs as she drops her hand to her side.]

Is the sheep actually any good?

[Well, that was true...]

She doesn't always like to battle, but she's not too bad. Zippleback's an electric type like Crackletail.

[Huh.]

You really did name most of your pokemon after things back home, didn't you.

Huh. I guess I did. [When he thinks about, it does seem like quite a few are...] It just sort of happened that way.

Hey, it's nice. Sort of. Everyone hates the names I come up with, anyway.

...A girl named Fluttershy hasn't talked about them to you, has she?

[Because however unusual they would be to most people, the names she'd given her pokemon weren't on the same level as Albert's.]

I'm not sure, I don't...think so?

One girl said they were boring. And somebody else kinda hinted they were mean.

Okay--just checking. [Because obligation dictates that he would have to side with Astrid, but Fluttershy was... Well, Fluttershy. Hard to go against someone like that.] Personally, I like the names you've given them.
